Sunday Musings

Happy Sunday….

It’s a lovely autumn Sunday evening here in Sydney. Daylight saving just ended, and the day already seems shorter. I love slow and easy Sundays where I can introspect, review my week, and get ready for the next week. Simply put, it is a slower than normal day.

After an exhausting week, I slept in this Sunday and attended virtual church service. Can you relate to such sundays?

If you did not know, I’m a believer in Jesus Christ and love to spend my Sunday mornings or nights at my local church. However, my weeks are never the same, and I opt for online church service sometimes. Now, because of my upbringing, where we always attended church service in person as a family, such Sundays are coupled with a form of guilt. Such moments remind me of the importance of building a personal relationship with God. That keeps me going when my circumstances change, and I can not make it to church or my life group(bible study). I have learnt the important lesson, that is to work out my salvation and seek God for myself, independent of my upbringing or my circumstances. I am forever grateful for my upbringing.  Chime in if you can relate……

Pan fried tofu with salt, garlic powder, and paprika.

I had a slow morning, made brunch, and tofu was the star of my show. Why does tofu get a bad rap? It’s too good and packed with protein, I love tofu. Scientifically, eating healthy can significantly impact one’s mental health, and I can attest to this. Hence why I TRY to eat healthier most of the time and aim to develop a healthy relationship with food. Food is fuel.

A snapshot of my brunch. It was very tasty and filling.

As the day went by, I was thinking about stewardship. Simply put, it is taking care of something you’ve got. It could be friendship, resources, finances, love, and whatever makes sense to you. For instance, with friendship, being a good steward of a beautiful friendship means investing in it,putting effort and value on the friendship you have been given. I have been thinking of ways to steward my friendships well. We can chat about that in future reads……

I love a good read. This is “It begins with you” by Jillian Turecki

Since the year started, I have been reading books on love. I started with “Secure love” and learnt a lot about attachment styles and how they manifest in romantic relationships and how to decipher and deal with individuals in a healthy and loving way. I could write a book about this! Healthy, secure love is not an illusion, as long as all individuals in the relationship understand the part they play and work towards a secure love. Jillian’s book comes with a different angle that points back to you, how humbling! I am learning that to be successful in a healthy relationship, it begins with you, your mindset, thoughts, actions, and what you allow. My biggest takeaway so far is that contrary to societal conditioning, you do not have to achieve perfection to experience healthy, fulfilling love. I have shared an image of a few journal prompts to ponder over whether you are single, getting to know someone, in a loving relationship, married, divorced, or wherever you are in this journey. We can talk more on this……

My favourite spot

I ended my Sunday with a long, hot girl walk as they say and relaxed by the marina, letting my mind wonder as I listened to music. Today, I’m stuck on the song Beautiful by Tweet. What a lovely song! I love finding beautiful nature trails to get my steps in and take in the beauty simultaneously. This is my spot, and it brings me joy to wind down my week from here. Looking forward to a new week…

I hope this next week brings forth joy, the deep inner joy that is unexplainable and can not be snatched away by daily life challenges

I hope you take Courage this week to do something you have put off for a while, try something completely new, meet new and old friends, reignite the fire of old passions and interests as that’s what I did today….

I wish you joy and courage…….
